Heard it on NPR earlier tonight. Yes, I still listen to FM radio in my car.

It’s wonderful isn’t it! I listen to a lot of Texas/Red Dirt Country because it’s some of the better quality country out now. Though, there are quite a few standouts outside of that area like Sturgill Simpson, Whitey Morgan, and Jason Isbell to name a few.

That song is legit. I’ve been trying to build up my collection of more authentic country recently. I went to a Turnpike Troubadours show a couple weeks ago, and it kind of got me fiendin'.

Jamey Johnson, Turnpike Troubadours(One of my favorites, I can honestly listen to their discography over and over and not get tired of them), John Moreland, Wade Bowen, Randy Rogers, Sundy Best(Bring Up the Sun is their best album, though they are a bit different, the substance is there). There are a several more out there, but they aren’t on my mind currently.

Can’t say for sure that I know them. The closest thing I know to new country artists are Jeremy Pinnell, who I just heard the first time tonight, and Shakey Graves, who I learned about on Oppo. I am typically not lucky enough to actually remember the artist’s name or song lyrics to stuff I hear on the radio.
That said I do have the secret weapon of my local NPR station. Most NPR stations are pretty good like the one to my north in Columbus. The one to my south though, based out of Northern Kentucky/Cincinnati is pretty dame awesome. On top of the rare occassion I actually learn about a new artist from them they play a lot of blues and bluegrass pretty regularly.
If I need any other country music songs I just rely on the reliable ones, Conway, Merle, Hank Sr. & Jr., Willie, and Johnnie.

Went to a Troubadours show a couple weeks ago. They rocked my face. I’m a big Randy Rodgers guy too. Fuzzy is one of my favorite country songs.
Thanks for the recs man.

Yeah dude. They’re even better live than they are recorded.
